International competition for our elite juniors in Portugal

The High Performance Junior Team continues to offer its pupils top-level international competitions through its program, and that is why two of our brave players, Erik Shukhart and Maxim Danilin played The Portuguese Intercollegiate Open, from February 15 to 18, 2018.

Golfers from 22 countries, including a good representation of Nordic, Russian and Central European players, faced each other in an emblematic setting: Penha Longa Golf Resort, very close to Lisbon.

Erik went from less to more and after the 77 card on the first round, he had his best day in the second round, with three birdies and two bogeys that gave him a 71-shot card. The third day his play was also very consistent, with 13 pars, and unfortunately a double bogey, for 76 strokes. He did superbly and got into the Top-10, coming 8th and first Spanish player, with 224 shots.

Maxim started the competition with great enthusiasm and the first day he signed a good 76, which he corroborated in the second round with a 78. It’s a pity that in the third round his three bogeys lost him positions, to finish 28th with 236 strokes.

In their Boys category they started in a draw of 83 players, so the results can be considered good and the experience very positive.

Congratulations to Erik and Maxim. Not everyone has the chance to play at Penha Longa!
